About
C.A. Goudey and Associates was founded to bring innovative solutions to the marine industry.
Our understanding of the ocean has advanced enough to expose both threats and opportunities. Trajectories related to climate change and its implication on coastlines and food insecurity reveal the urgency to slow then reverse recent increases in greenhouse gasses. Seaweed farming, done correctly and at scale, is carbon negative with opportunities for food, chemical feedstocks, and energy.

Clifford Goudey is the founder of C.A. Goudey & Associates that specializes in developing engineered solutions to marine-related problems. Cliff earned a Bachelors degree in mathematics from UMaine Orono. He then served as an officer in the USCG and captained a research vessel out of Woods Hole prior to earning Master’s degrees from MIT in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering and in Mechanical Engineering.
Cliff worked at MIT for 30 years as a research engineer focusing on marine industries challenges ranging from commercial fishing and aquaculture to undersea research. A consistent theme of his work has been the introduction of innovative ways of sustainably exploiting the energy and resources of the ocean.
He is currently focused on developing technologies for farming, harvesting, and transport of seaweeds as feed stock for commercial product manufacture.
